¡Buenos días desde Mexico City, Reader! 🇲🇽

I’m spending the next few days here studying International Competitiveness and Family Business as part of my Executive MBA program. I’ve been sharing a lot about my MBA journey over on LinkedIn -- not just because I’m learning so much (which I definitely am), but because it’s a key part of building my personal brand.

Your personal brand grows, your recognition increases, and -- most importantly -- you start landing opportunities where you get paid your worth.

That’s my story, but now let’s talk about you, Reader.

I'll be sharing actionable strategies to help you:
âś… Build a powerful personal brand
âś… Increase your visibility online
âś… Turn your expertise into income

This masterclass kicks off next week and you'll have three opportunities to tune in live!

đź’° Profits:

This week's top news to keep more money in your pockets:

🚀 Pointers:

AI is revolutionizing how small business owners save time and streamline operations. Whether you realize it or not, most of your competitors are already leveraging AI to stay ahead.

But if you're still getting the hang of your AI chat tool, you might be frustrated by its robotic and oftentimes, extremely corny, responses.

Here’s the thing, Reader, the problem likely isn't the AI... it's how you're prompting it.

So, what does that mean?

In my latest blog post, I break down the art of crafting effective AI prompts that help you get the results you actually need—without all the frustrating rewrites.

⚡️ Products:

  • CapCut

If you're looking to easily create content for your business I'd take advantage of the many templates that CapCut has. What I love the most about the platform is that you can edit content on your laptop/desktop or mobile.

  • Easy Webinar

If you're currently hosting virtual webinars, masterclasses or workshops, I encourage you to checkout Easy Webinar. It's a tool that I recently came across and what I'll be using to host my Get Noticed, Get Paid webinar. What I love is that the platform comes with everything you need to host a successful webinar - landing page, email reminders, and more!

  • Newsletter Subscriptions

Okay, stick with me now. While this isn't technically a product, it is a resource that I use to stay in the know of what's happening in the marketing, entrepreneurship and small business world. I believe that the best marketers are informed marketers -- that means as a small business owner wearing all the hats, you need to find time to stay updated on what's happening in your industry, city, and essentially anything that can affect the way you do business. An easy way for me to stay in-the-know is by subscribing to newsletters I find interesting -- that way I get the news I want directly in my inbox weekly without having to scour the internet for it.

*Heads up: I may earn a commission if you grab these, but I only recommend tools I actually love and use in my business!

đź”® Predictions:

I’ve been all-in on AI for a while now, Reader, but recently, my techy friend hit our group chat with insight that made all of us pause: some of these AI tools are having a huge negative impact on the environment.

Training AI models requires massive amounts of energy and specialized computer chips, which can lead to high carbon emissions and strain on natural resources (in other words: global warming). It’s a hidden cost of the AI boom that many people don’t realize.

If you haven't been following all of this, here's some background for you: The U.S. is determined to dominate the global AI race. To stay ahead, they’ve been limiting the sale of advanced computer chips to China with the worry that they could be used for military purposes. This makes it harder for Chinese companies to compete. But here’s where it gets interesting -- Chinese companies have been forced to innovate and find ways to do more with less.

As I’ve learned while taking International Competitiveness here in Mexico City for my MBA program, competition breeds innovation. And that’s where DeepSeek comes in.

DeepSeek is a Chinese startup that launched its own AI chatbot in December, competing with big names like ChatGPT. What makes DeepSeek stand out is that it uses fewer specialized computer chips to train its system compared to other AI companies.

Why does that matter?

It’s better for the planet. By using fewer resources, DeepSeek’s approach is much more environmentally friendly. It’s a game-changer in the AI race. With DeepSeek finding a way to create something just as good -- if not better -- with less. That puts the U.S. in a tough spot. It’s proof that limited resources can breed innovation. DeepSeek didn’t let restrictions hold them back—they turned their challenges into opportunities.

But here’s my prediction: DeepSeek could win the AI race by positioning itself as the environmental winner.

I tested DeepSeek alongside ChatGPT, and it works just as well. But if DeepSeek can show it’s the greener option, it could gain a huge edge. Why? Because consumers care about sustainability. According to PWC, 85% of people say they’ve felt the effects of climate change, and they’re willing to pay almost 10% more for eco-friendly products.

Alright, that was a lot of background information. So what can you, as a small business owner or entrepreneur, learn from DeepSeek?

  • Turn limitations into opportunities. DeepSeek didn’t have access to the same resources as its competitors, but it found a way to innovate and stand out. SMBs and startups can do the same by focusing on their unique strengths and finding creative solutions to challenges.
  • Sustainability is a competitive advantage. Consumers are increasingly drawn to eco-friendly brands. If you can align your business with sustainable practices, you’ll not only help the planet but also attract more customers.
  • Competition breeds innovation. DeepSeek is proof that you don’t need to be a tech giant to make an impact. By staying agile and focused, SMBs can compete with larger players in their industry.

The AI race is heating up, and DeepSeek is one to watch. But more importantly, it’s a reminder that limited resources don’t have to limit your potential. In fact, they can be the spark that drives your next big breakthrough.
